The National Olympic Committee of Ukraine celebrated 25 years of sporting history with Bach as well as ANOC president Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah with a gala dinner hosted in the Ukrainian capital Kiev.
"It was a fantastic evening and a chance for the Olympic family to commemorate the great achievements of Ukrainian athletes and their NOC," said ANOC president Sheikh Ahmad.
In Bach’s address he congratulated NOCU president Sergey Bubka as well as the founding president of NOCU Valeriy Borzov for the many Ukrainian contributions in Olympic history.
"In addition to 25 years of sporting success, the NOC of Ukraine should also be celebrating the work that it is doing to spread the values of sport and the spirit of Olympism throughout the country," said Bach.(ATR)The National Olympic Committee of Ukraine celebrated 25 years of sporting history this week.
IOC President Thomas Bach and Association of National Olympic Committees president Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah traveled to Kiev for the commemoration that included a gala dinner hosted Dec. 15.
"It was a fantastic evening and a chance for the Olympic family to commemorate the great achievements of Ukrainian athletes and their NOC," Sheikh Ahmad said in a statement.
Ahmad also received an honorary doctorate from theNational University of Physical Education and Sport in Ukraine during his trip to the country.

On Dec. 16, Bach accompanied Bubka in a day of festivities throughout the Ukrainian capital. Bach caught up with youngsters and demonstrated his fencing skills.
An Olympic fencer, Bach exchanged lunges and parries with the young athletes during a visit to a training center.
Bach and other IOC leaders met with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
