(ATR) IOC member from Gambia Beatrice Allen is out of jail, but apparently facing charges of theft from the NOC, Around the Rings is told.

A reporter at Gambian newspaper The Note says Allen was released on bail Monday after her arrest this weekend. The reporter says Allen is supposed to return to court Feb. 2.

On Friday, police arrested Allen, interim president of the Gambian National Olympic Committee, GNOC treasurer Ousman Wadda and accounting officer Muhammed Janneh over allegations that they stole $1200 from the GNOC coffers.

A staff member at the GNOC told ATR Allen was released but declined to offer more information.

Allen could not be immediately reached for comment.

In a statement to ATR, Emmanuelle Moreau, a spokeswoman for the IOC says "we are aware of the case and are currently gathering information on what exactly happened."

Allen, 61, was elected to the IOC in 2006. She assumed the role of GNOC president after her predecessor, Lang Tombong Tamba, was sentenced to death over his involvement with a coup.

She serves on the IOC’s Women and Sport, Culture and Olympic Education commissions, and the Rio de Janeiro Coordination Commission.

Her IOC biography says she is the executive director of Trade & Investment Promotion, Gambia.
