(ATR)An IOC evaluation commission is visiting Beijing this weekto evaluate the city's progress on its bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics.

AThe group will arrive in Beijing on March 24 and wrap up its visit on March 28.Last month, the commission traveled to the only other city bidding for the 2022 Games, Almaty, Kazakhstan.

One of the two cities will be chosen to host the 2022 Olympics at the IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur on July 31.

World Figure Skating Championships

The 2015 World Figure Skating Championships are underway in Shanghai, China.

The International Skating Union is staging competition for the championships at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center, which also hosted events for the World Aquatics Championships in 2011.

World Cross Country Championships

The International Association of Athletics Federations is staging the 2015 World Cross Country Championships onMarch 28 in Guiyang, China.

In a statement released on March 20, the IAAF highlighted "ten athletes to watch" at the championships this year.

The list included U.S. track starChris Derrick, Kenya's Emily Chebet, Ethiopia's Yihunilign Adane, and Japan's Azusa Sumi.

World Men's Curling Championship

The 2015World Men's Curling Championship takes placeMarch 28-April 5 inHalifax, Nova Scotia.

Norway are the defending champions, hoping to secure their fifth title at theWorld Men's Curling Championship.

Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship

The International Ice Hockey Federation kicks of the Women's World Championship on March28 in Malmo, Sweden.

Eight teams from around the world will participate in this year's event including Canada, Finland, Germany, Japan, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States.

The 16th edition of the Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship ends onApril 4.

Cricket World Cup

The 2015 Cricket World Cup ends on March 29.

Semi finals begin on March 24 with a match between New Zealand and South Africa. Australia faces off against India, the defending champions, on March 26 in a semi final.

Jointly hosted this year by Australia and New Zealand, the event has gathered 14 teams from around the world. Overall, teams will play 49 matches in 14 venues.
