(ATR) The ongoing Papa Massata Diack corruption case and vaccination questions are IOC member concerns for the Dakar 2022 Youth Olympic Games.

During the IOC Session on Tuesday in Lausanne, British IOC member Craig Reedie requested an update about Diack, the disgraced Senegalese sports official who is said to have accepted millions in bribes. Following an interjection from IOC President Thomas Bach saying the question was not germane, Dakar 2022 Coordination Commission chair from Senegal Mamadou Ndiaye gave a brief update on Diack.

"I think it is probably an open secret when I say the son has been charged," explained Ndiaye. Papa Diack is the son of Lamine, the former IOC member and chairman of the International Association of Athletics Federations. Like father like son, the elder Diack is alleged to have been corrupt in both his athletics and IOC jobs and on Monday, French officials said Lamine must stand trial.

Papa Diack remains on the lam in Senegal.

"I think that the court will take its decision but we cannot extradite our own citizens," Ndiaye said.

Yelena Isinbayeva asked for an update on her question from the last Session. In 2018 she wanted to know what precautions would be taken against infectious diseases from mosquitoes and if vaccinations would be necessary.

"This morning I was speaking to our ambassador and there was a meeting with our ambassador and the World Health Organization," Ndiaye said.

Hoping to reassure IOC members, Ndiaye said he would pass along the recommendations from the WHO when he received them.
