(ATR)IOC President Thomas Bach believes that the inagural World Olympians Forum will put Olympic Agenda 2020 reforms into action.
"Olympians are at the heart of the Olympic Movement," Bach said in a statement on Tuesday."Thirty-eight members of the IOC have competed in the Olympic Games. Twenty-eight of those are medalists.
"Olympic Agenda 2020 made engaging with Olympians one of the top priorities and this very first World Olympians Forum is just one of the results."
Some of the biggest names in the international sports world will come together at the forum in Moscow next month under Bach's leadership.
The inauguralWorld Olympians Forum, created by the WOA in partnership with the ROC, will gather Olympic leaders and athletes, as well as major Russian sports figures.
In the WOA statement released on Tuesday, organizers said that 143 national Olympians associations, IOC members, Olympic stakeholders, and athletes will meet at the event to exchange "best practices and discuss the topics of greatest concern to Olympians."
Bach said he has high hopes for the event. "It is a chance for all Olympians, young and old, summer and winter athletes and from all around the world to contribute more effectively to our future.
"I look forward to seeing this forum make a great contribution to the whole Olympic Movement."
Bouzou said he thinks that the event will honor values at the foundation of the Olympic Games. "We're looking forward to working in partnership with the IOC, the Russian NOC and the Russian Ministry of Sport.
"I'm confident that the first ever WOF will be a wonderful celebration of Olympism that will help address key issues faced by Olympians across the world."
ROC president Alexander Zhukov echoed Bouzou's sentiments and said that the committee is excited about the opportunity to co-host an event like the World Olympians Forum.
The inaugural World Olympians Forum is taking place in the Russian capital Oct. 20-22.
