(ATR) Lausanne waited 100 years for this party - what's one more day?
That was the prevailing thought in Lausanne as rain set in on the city the IOC has now called home for 100 years. To commemorate the occasion the IOC planned a large two-day celebration and public festival originally scheduled for Nov. 20-21.
On tap for the celebration at the Place de la Rippone is a large show featuring a group of 400 skaters, dancers, singers and aerial acrobats. During the show, images and video from the Olympic Movement will also be projected onto the building.
The event is accompanied by a fireworks display and music by international DJ Igor Blaska. Admission to the show is free.
The festival, which will primarily take place outdoors, has now been postponed to Nov. 21-22 due to heavy rains.
The show will now be performed on Sunday, Nov. 22.
The IOC will put on both ice hockey and speed skating demonstrations for attendees of the event.
