The International Olympic Committee (IOC) today announced that América Móvil, through its subsidiary AMX Contenido, S.A. de C.V. ("AMCO"), has been awarded the broadcast rights in 17 territories across Latin America for the Olympic Games from 2018 through to 2024, as well as the Youth Olympic Games held in the same period.
América Móvil, the IOC’s broadcast partner in the region since 2014, has acquired:
Exclusive Digital broadcast rights in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Exclusive Pay TV rights in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Non-exclusive Pay TV rights in Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Panama.
Non-exclusive Digital and Pay TV rights for the Youth Olympic Games in all the above countries.
IOC President Thomas Bach said: "I am delighted that we will continue our partnership with América Móvil through to 2024 across Latin America. Our commercial agreements are critical for the development of sport around the world, as the IOC redistributes 90 per cent of the revenue it generates, including across Latin America."
