(ATR) Sarah Davies was named chair of the IWF’s newly formed Athletes Commission last September. The 28-year-old Tokyo hopeful says weightlifting must show it’s serious about change … and that it must clean up the sport.
"The sport needs to show that they are doing a lot of doping testing and we need to ensure there are no positive tests that come back from these Games," Davies tells Around the Rings.
"This puts the future of our sport as much in the hands of each and every athlete who will compete in the Games, and not just on how the IWF moves forward."

Hurry Up and Wait for Olympic Ticket Refunds
(ATR) Sixty-eight thousand U.S. Olympic ticket buyers are affected by Tokyo 2020’s decision to disallow overseas spectators to attend this summer’s Games.
Those who have purchased ticket packages through U.S. Authorized Ticket Reseller CoSport will have to wait patiently as refunds still need to be approved by Tokyo 2020 organizers and the IOC before processing.
Alan Dizdarevic, Co-CEO of the New Jersey based CoSport, tells Around the Rings that the long-awaited decision was not unexpected, but nevertheless painful.

Brisbane 2032 Clears Another Hurdle
(ATR) The Brisbane City Council signs off on the 2032 Olympic bid as the process moves toward a final IOC decision that could come as soon as July.
Only one councilor voted against the motion at the end of the first special meeting of the city council since 2007, according to the Brisbane Times.
Most of the eight-hour meeting was held behind closed doors as councilors were required to sign confidentiality agreements to hear presentations by Australian Olympic Committee president John Coates, Paralympics Australia president Jock O’Callaghan and others heavily involved in the early planning for the Summer Games bid.
