Joint Teams Feature in Asiad Draw
Three teams from the Korean peninsula have been drawn against opponents for the 2018 Asian Games.
In Jakarta, Indonesia the draw for team events at the Asian Games was conducted determining sets of opponents featuring at next month’s multi-sport event. A traditional affair became historic with the first inclusion of multiple joint Korean teams, formed in the wake of the joint women’s ice hockey team that competed at the PyeongChang Olympics.
North and South Korean athletes will combine in women’s basketball, canoeing, and rowing teams during Jakarta 2018. Separate North and South Korean teams will compete in other sports. The Olympic Council of Asia set a requirement that combined teams could only be formed in disciplines that did not affect athlete quotas.
Only women’s basketball was subject to the draw in Jakarta. The team was drawn in a group against Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Kazakhstan and India. South Korea won the women’s basketball tournament at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.

2020 Yen Tickets for Tokyo Olympics
Games organizers will offer some tickets costing ¥2,020 to mark the year of the Olympics.
The $18 tickets will be available for children, senior citizens and disabled people for preliminary-round events and the ceremonies, reported the Kyodo news agency. The number of tickets in this category is yet to be confirmed.
Under efforts to make the Paralympics more attractive and affordable, tickets costing less than $18 will be sold for events.
"We hope that a diverse audience enjoys the Olympics and fans generate a frenzied atmosphere in the stadium," Tokyo 2020’s ticketing strategy panel chair Sadahiko Kano was quoted as saying.
In May, the Japanese media reported that the most expensive opening ceremony tickets for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics would cost around $2,620 and $1,311 respectively.

IAAF Clears More Russians to Compete
(ATR) The IAAF has approved the applications of another eight Russian athletes to compete as neutrals in international competitions.
The federation’s doping review board said three hurdlers, two pole vaulters, a high jumper and two distance runners had met the exceptional eligibility criteria to compete in global meets amid the ongoing suspension of the Russian national federation (RusAF).
The IAAF issued a simplified application process for 2017 Authorised Neutral Athletes to reapply for continued eligibility to compete in international competitions in 2018.
Since publication in December of the simplified application and updated guidelines to become neutral athletes, the IAAF has received 199 requests from Russian athletes.
A total of 67 Russian athletes have so far been declared eligible to compete as neutral athletes in 2018.
The IAAF said 62 applications have been denied and five athletes have had their neutral status revoked.
