(ATR) A key deadline passes that could lead to the suspension of the Gambian Olympic Committee.

In September, the IOC said the Gambian government must return all seized Gambia National Olympic Committee property to the GNOC. The deadline to do so was earlier this week, and Gambian IOC member Beatrice Allen says the GNOC office remains closed.

Allen said in an email to Around the Rings,"The deadline is past and gone."

She added, "There is no communication between [the government} and NOC executives."

The seized property was one of several issues raised by the GNOC in its meeting with the IOC and government officials. The government refusing to recognized GNOC elections and a "travel ban" on GNOC officials were some of the other issues.

In a statement after the meeting, the IOC said the Executive Board would review the impasse during its October meeting. The IOC said at the time that "appropriate decisions will be taken depending on the progress made." It is unclear what those decisions could be.

Disagreements between the GNOC and government started over a year ago, which the IOC characterized as "far too long."
