(ATR) Summer Olympic sports body ASOIF has appointed James Carr as its new head of administration and projects.

Carr from Britain will start in the post June 1.

Previously, he spent two-and-a-half years working as head of international relations at the UCI. Prior to that he was a legal counsel at British Cycling for three years.

He replaces Tim Goethals, who left the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations earlier this year to work at a Lausanne events company.

"James has gathered valuable experience with summer Olympic sports in previous jobs and knows the ASOIF family well," ASOIF director tells Around the Rings.

"We are sure he will add a lot of value to our activities and are looking forward to welcoming him into the team."

Carr will be responsible for the management of ASOIF's administration and responsibility for overseeing its meetings and six consultative and advisory groups.

He is also charged with overseeing various projects undertaken on behalf of the 28 summer sports including Olympic Games coordination and issue tracking, governance, anti-doping and communications.

Another key part of his job will be building and maintaining relationships with the IFs and key stakeholders and partners including the IOC, World Anti-Doping Agency and Court of Arbitration for Sport.
