MIES, Switzerland (FIBA World Basketball Summit) - The inaugural FIBA World Basketball Summit will feature a high-powered line-up of A-list speakers from the worlds of basketball, sports business and media.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, Craig Zanon, Global Head of Basketball at Nike, and Caitlyn Chen, Vice-President at Chinese digital media giant Tencent, are among the keynote speakers that were announced on Wednesday for the ground-breaking Summit taking place in Xi'an, China, on October 3-4,
The roster also includes Casey Wasserman, Founder and CEO of the Wasserman Media Group, Philippe Blatter, CEO of Infront Sports & Media marketing and Vice-President of Wanda, and Mark Tatum, NBA Deputy Commissioner and FIBA Executive Committee Member.
Players will also be represented in the shape of 3x3 world champion Rae Lin D’Alie, who won hearts and minds as she inspired Italy to victory at the FIBA 3x3 Women's World Cup 2018 in the Philippines last June.
As host and organizer of this first of its kind gathering of basketball stakeholders from across the globe, FIBA will be represented by its Secretary General and International Committee (IOC) Member, Patrick Baumann.
The FIBA World Basketball Summit is defined by the experience, authority and influence of its speakers, each of whom has made a significant contribution to developing the sport worldwide.
The Summit will focus on many of the key opportunities and issues facing the sport and is structured around a series of key themes, each of which will focus on identifying opportunities and strategies for improvement and growth.
Each strand will consist of a keynote address from an acknowledged global expert on the subject, followed by a discussion by panels chosen to reflect the experience and interests of relevant stakeholder groups
The FIBA World Basketball Summit has been designed for the whole basketball family and the businesses which work in and around it. It provides an opportunity to meet, share information and learn. Every session is designed to deliver maximum value to delegates who will come from all over the world and represent every stakeholder group.
In addition to representatives of the national federations that make up FIBA, participants will include leagues and clubs, players' organizations, educational bodies, media and technology companies and the brands which forge strong and mutually profitable relationships with the sport.
There will be a strong presence from the host city and nation among the speakers and panellists as well as delegates.
