(ATR) A new president is not the only change for the European Olympic Committees.
Ahead of the body’s General Assembly in Minsk, Belarus today, the EOC unveiled a new logo as part of an organizational rebrand.
The new logo features a mosaic design, containing 50 pieces. Each piece represents one of the 50 members of the EOC. Using the design of a mosaic was meant to symbolize "an art form synonymous with European history and culture," according to an EOC release.
"The EOC’s new look and feel is an excellent visual representation of Europe and the unifying role that sport plays across our continent," Janez Kocijancic, EOC acting president, said in a statement.
To showcase the logo, each National Olympic Committee present, placed a piece of the mosaic to create an enlarged version of the logo during the opening ceremony. The project to design the new logo began in April.
"Tonight’s logo reveal was an innovative way to introduce our new corporate logo to our membership," Kocijanic, added. "[They] will receive a full briefing during the General Assembly tomorrow about the new look and feel, and how to use it for marketing purposes."
