Czech NOC Says Vtejte to ANOC

(ATR) Czech Republic Olympic Committee President Jiri Kejval says Prague is ready to welcome the world.

An experienced organizing team and nearly 150 volunteers are helping to host the Association of National Olympic Committees General Assembly in the Prague Hilton, where most delegates will stay.

The hotel has a history of hosting large events, such as UNESCO and World Bank conventions. Kejval says branding splashed across the building will make delegates feel like they are in a true Olympic hotel.

"We have a very detailed schedule and [everything is] on time," Kejval said, adding that the staff is very experienced and proud to host the event.

Fourth Awards Ceremony

The fourth ANOC awards will be the highlight of the assembly. Kejval would not say who will be honored, but said all continents would be represented. Michal Caban, a Czech director, is in charge of the ceremony. He also prepared the program for the Welcome reception that will be hosted by Czech Olympians Andrea Hlaváčková and Tomáš Verner.

"We always try to have current or former athletes involved with the Czech Olympic Committee, so this is a great opportunity to have them collaborate with the organizing committee for the ANOC event," Kejval said.

Kejval said he hopes delegates will find the time to tour Prague and to enjoy the city’s rich heritage. "I am really happy that we have the opportunity to show the whole world, that Prague is a beautiful city, and that the Czech Republic is able to host the biggest sport conference. Two years ago we managed to successfully host the EOC General Assembly. We will do our best to organize the ANOC General Assembly at the highest level once again," Kejval added.
