(ATR) A judge in Switzerland is expected to make a decision this week regarding an attempted takeover of the Olympic boxing federation as its president seeks to clear his name.
International Boxing Association president CK Wu is at odds with several members of the AIBA executive committee for alleged financial mismanagement of the organization that has led to a KPMG report suggesting a debt of $15.5 million.
Thirteen AIBA executives signed a declaration at a July 24 meeting in Moscow forming an Interim Management Committee led by AIBA vice president Franco Falcinelli. The IMC is tasked with daily operations of the federation until a motion of no confidence is held against president Wu at an Extraordinary Congress in Dubai on Nov. 11.
However, Wu and AIBA executive director William Louis-Marie are fighting the formation of the IMC and will present their side of the story to the Swiss court on Aug. 17. Both Wu and the IMC will have opportunities to make their case as to why they should lead the federation.
The court began considering the case last week but postponed a decision until both sides could be heard on Thursday, Aug. 17.

One Month to Lima IOC Session
The Olympic Movement will convene in the Peruvian capital from Sep. 13-16 for the 131st International Olympic Committee Session.
While the Host City election for the 2024 Summer Olympics that was originally planned as the big ticket item of the Session will not be held, there is still plenty of IOC business that will take place during the three-days of meetings.
The full IOC membership must still approve the tripartite agreement arranged between the IOC, Paris and Los Angeles to give the 2024 Summer Games to Paris and the 2028 edition to Los Angeles.
Discussions regarding a change in the bidding process for the Winter 2026 Olympics will also be had with a more clear picture of what the new campaign procedures will be expected to come out of the Session.
The IOC will also likely approve the nine candidates nominated by the IOC Executive Board to become members of the Olympics governing body.
The list includes: Oceania National Olympic Committees vice president Baklai Temengil, Czech Olympic Committee president Jiri Kejval, Norwegian Olympic Committee vice president Kristin Kloster Aasen, Badminton Association of Thailand president Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, Dominican Republic Olympic Committee president Luis Mejia Oviedo, World Rowing president Jean-Christophe Rolland, International Federation for Equestrian Sports president Ingmar De Vos, PanamSports president Neven Ilic of Chile and Oman Olympic Committee president Khalid Muhammad Al Zubair.
Two positions on the IOC EB are also up for election at the Session, with five contenders for the seats: Nicole Hoevertsz, Ivan Dibos, Habu Gumel, Pal Schmitt and Denis Oswald.
An Olympism in Action Congress will also be held after the close of the Session on Sep. 17-18.
