HostCities Conference

Speakers from the South Africa 2010 and Russia 2018 World Cup delegations are the latest additions to the program of HostCities.

Danny Jordaan, Vice President of the South African Football Association, is slated to speak about bringing the World Cup to Africa for the first time, and Alexey Sorokin, CEO of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Local Organizing Committee, will discuss Russia’s successful bid for the 2018 World Cup.

Eduardo Paes, Mayor of Rio de Janeiro; Juergen Mueller, FIFA head of 2014, 2018, 2022 World Cups; and Heidi Ueberroth, President, NBA International have all signed on to speak.

The HostCities Conference runs Dec. 4 and 5 in Dubai.

IOC Conference on Sport, Culture and Education

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) will work with the IOC on this week’s 8th World Conference on Sport, Culture and Education in Amsterdam.

Topics to be discussed include: "innovating approaches for sustainable education" and "the impact of the Youth Olympic Games and Olympic Games Cultural Olympiad" as well as drawing from young people who are at the heart of the Olympic Movement.

The conference runs Sunday to Tuesday at the Amsterdam Maritime Museum.

World Sports Congress

The 2013 World Sports Congress will be held in London on Feb. 26 and 27.

The Congress aims to "bring together senior-level executives from the top sporting organizations and businesses internationally to explore best practices for designing and constructing infrastructure."

The Congress is invite only.

SportAccord 2013

The theme for SportAccord 2013 will be "The State of Our Industry – Examining the Health of Sport".

"We are planning some exciting innovations for this year’s conference, which is going to have a very powerful list of speakers from Russia and around the world," said Nis Hatt, SportAccord Convention Managing Director.

"Our aim is to facilitate strategic discussion on the direction of the global industry."

Three sessions are so far announced for the conference. "The Advent of the Blade Runner – Bionic Sport of the Future" will examine how new technology impacts sports and its boundaries in the coming years.

"Sochi in the Spotlight" will focus on Russia’s first Winter Olympics.

"Sport in the Global Economy" will bring together business leaders in sport to debate ongoing challenges and opportunities.
