Bernard Lapasset, chairman of the International Rugby Board, led the French Committee on International Sport review of Paris 2024.The French Olympic Committee is expected to make a decision in early 2015 on whether Paris will bid for the Games in 2024.
Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. are four cities vying for the U.S. nomination for a 2024 Olympic bid. Bids could also come from Rome, Doha, Berlin or Hamburg and other cities.
Host Cities Summit
The 2014 Host Cities Summit takes place Nov. 25-27 inDubai.
Organizers for the event sayan international delegation of current and future host cities, and the heads of leading sport bodies, will gather to discuss "effective strategies for winning and hosting major sporting events."
The summit will focus on ways an event like the Olympics can leave a "positive economic and social impact" on a host city. According to organizers, global experts will host a series of panel debates, case studies, round tables and workshops on the process of staging major sporting events.
Modern Pentathlon Congress
The 66th Modern Pentathlon Congress opens on Nov. 28 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian Modern Pentathlon Federation, alongside the International Modern Pentathlon Union, is hosting the event. The Modern Pentathlon Congress ends on Nov. 30.
FINA World Aquatics Convention
The International Swimming Federation (FINA) is hosting its third World Aquatics Convention Nov. 29-Dec. 1 inDoha, Qatar.
FINA officials say "over 40 industry leaders will host top-level business meetings at booths" throughout the convention.
During the three-day exhibition, FINA will hold an Extraordinary Congress and a clinic for over 200 participating coaches. Doha will also host the12th edition of the FINA World Swimming Championships Dec. 3-7.
Women's Hockey Champions Trophy
The 21st edition of the Women's Hockey Champions Trophy takes place Nov. 29-Dec. 7 inMendoza, Argentina.
Countries competing at this year's event are Argentina, Australia, China, England, Germany, Japan, The Netherlands and New Zealand.
The International Hockey Federation held the inauguralWomen's Hockey Champion's Trophy in 1987.
Women's World Boxing Championships
The 2014 Women's World Boxing Championships are underway inJeju, South Korea.
The International Boxing Association is staging the event at Jeju's Halla Gymnasium.Boxers aged 19 to 40 compete in 10 weight categories at the world championships, which end Nov. 25.
Qualification for 2016 Rio Paralympics
The qualification period for five-a-side football lasts through Nov. 25.
Athletes will qualify for the 2016 Paralympic Games based on world ranking points.
