CISA Welcomes Journalists in Algiers for Seminar -- Conferences and Conventions

(ATR) The Africa International Sports Convention turns 10 in 2016 as it begins today in Algiers, Algeria.

CISA is organized by the Algerian Olympicand Sports Committee (AOC) and the Association of National OlympicCommittees of Africa (ANOCA).

"Day by day, year by year, CISA is becoming, an central tool for thedevelopment of sport in Africa," said AOC president and ANOCA vicepresident Moustapha Berraf. "It is an event with a great internationalscope that we are proud to welcome in order to celebrate its 10thedition."

CISA is organized every year by a different city in Africa and began in 2007. Theconvention welcomes sports business professionals at a regional andinternational level.

This year's conference will host the fifth edition of the Seminar for Sports Journalists, an initiative that began at the conference in Bamako in 2011. Organizers say approximately 50 journalists will attend the seminar, 30 of which traveled internationally.

ATR's Ed Hula III is on-the-scene at the conference and is also one of the speakers for the Seminar for Sports Journalists. Other speakers include former IOC communications director Fekrou Kidane, CAF media director Junior Salomon Binyam and AIPS president of Africa Michel Obi.

The convention also features a program to educate children through sportcalled CISA Kids, a gala dinner and Athletes’ Seminar.

More Partners Join SportAccord

The annual SportAccord Convention will take place from April 17-22 at the SwissTech Convention Center in Lausanne, Switzerland.

SportAccord continues to bring in new partners as the conference is nowless than one month away. On Thursday, Aggreko, Edmonton Events and Penceo joined as Silver Partners.

On March 21, SportAccord named Dow Jones as thetop Media Partner to "facilitate commercial opportunities across DowJones and the Wall Street Journal, enabling us to further engage withkey global decision-makers inside and outside of sport".

"The business of sport is a compelling arena for Dow Jones, and inparticular Dow Jones Sports Intelligence, the first sports specific duediligence service, which we established in 2015 to assist the sportingworld to meet the challenges of transparency, compliance and goodgovernance," says Dow Jones Sports Intelligence chief Simon Greenberg.

SportAccord has also named Carlson Wagonlit Travel as its officialTravel Partner of the convention. CWT operates in more than 150countries and is headquartered in Lausanne where it provides travelservices and event management to 20 International Federations as well asthe IOC.

"We are also looking forward to meeting new organisations at booth 61during this global sport gathering, to explain more about the serviceswe offer which include organizing meetings and events, optimizingtraveler programs as well as sport equipment management," says CWT areamanager Roger Waldmann.

Around the Rings is also one of three Principal Media Partners for the convention.

Tickets Running Out for Sports Technology Awards

The annual Sports Technology Awards are headed to London on April 15 but tickets to the event are in short supply.

The deadline to request tickets for the event is April 6 and organizers say the tickets are selling out fast.

The awards ceremony recognizes achievement and innovation in sports technology advancements. Categories of awards include best wearable technology in sport, best use of technology by a sponsor, best sports app and best technology partnership. There are 17 awards in total.

The awards were created in October 2013 by British public relations firm ENS with the first ceremony taking place in April 2014. The awards are now in its third cycle and have the support of the English Sports Council.
