China Unicom Becomes Beijing 2022's Official Telecommunication Services Partner

China Unicom became the Official Telecommunication Services Partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 on December 26, 2017.

Han Zirong, Secretary General of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (Beijing 2022), and Mai Yanzhou, Deputy General Manager of China Unicom, signed the partnership agreement in a ceremony at China Unicom’s headquarters in Beijing.

Zhang Jiandong, Vice Mayor of Beijing and Executive Vice President of Beijing 2022, Lu Yong, Board Chairman of China Disabled Persons’ Federation and Vice President of Beijing 2022, Wang Xiaochu, Chairman of China Unicom, Lu Yimin, General Manager of China Unicom, and Shao Guanglu, Deputy General Manager of China Unicom attended the signing ceremony.

Partnering with a leading telecommunications company like China Unicom will help Beijing 2022 build more connections within and outside China, and bring many "smart" and high-tech elements to the Games, Zhang Jiandong, Vice Mayor of Beijing and Executive Vice President of Beijing 2022, said in a speech before the signing.

Beijing 2022 will make sure that China Unicom fully enjoys the wide range of benefits that come with the Olympic brand and achieves solid growth, Zhang added.

China Unicom will provide best services for the staging of successful Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing in 2022, said Wang Xiaochu, Chairman of China Unicom.

The technologies of China Unicom will connect the athletes and the cheering spectators and television viewers, and connect a hospitable China with the world, Wang said.

China Unicom also officially launched its "166" cell phone numbers at the ceremony, making a million numbers that start with "166" available across China. The launch of these new numbers was in line with China Unicom’s longstanding commitment to serving Chinese telecommunications and Olympic endeavors with high-quality networks, products, and services.

Since its launch in February 2017, Beijing 2022’s Marketing Program has received considerable attention and interest from different sectors. Beijing 2022 has signed five Official Partners so far, including Bank of China, Air China, Yili Group (dairy products), ANTA (sports apparel), and China Unicom.
