(ATR) Chief executive officer of the International Hockey Federation Kelly Fairweather is making the move to the International Tennis Federation.
Fairweather will become the chief operating officer for the ITF at the beginning of 2017, adding to his extensive experience in the realm of international sports.
Fairweather has previously worked with the World Anti-Doping Agency, the International Olympic Committee as the director of sport as well as the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations.
ITF president Dave Haggerty says Fairweather will help the federation achieve the ambitious goals set forth in its agenda named ITF 2024.
"Kelly’s extensive experience in the Olympic movement as well as his in-depth understanding of the challenges faced by international federations made him the perfect candidate to help the ITF fulfill its mission to develop, grow and promote tennis around the world," said Haggerty.
Fairweather said he looks forward to the opportunity to work with Haggerty.
"It is a federation that I know well having worked with them during my time as IOC Director of Sport and I have admired how they have grown in stature in the Olympic movement," said Fairweather.
"The ambitious agenda of Dave Haggerty for the future of the ITF and its flagship competitions, Davis Cup by BNP Paribas and Fed Cup by BNP Paribas, has great appeal to me and I look forward to working with him to make ITF 2024 a reality."
William Louis-Marie Named New AIBA Executive Director
Former communications director for the International Boxing Association (AIBA) William Louis-Marie is taking a step up to become the federation’s new executive director.
Louis-Marie is replacing Karim Bouzidi who was reassigned within AIBA following a series of controversial decisions at the Rio 2016 Olympic boxing tournament. Bouzidi will now be leaving the federation as a result of the controversy.
Louis-Marie has served as the communications director for AIBA since May 2014 and was aided by senior media relations manager Nicolas Jomard who will now be stepping into Louis-Marie’s former role.
"I am confident that the knowledge and experience of these appointees will provide the necessary changes to ensure AIBA’s continued success for years to come," said AIBA President C.K. Wu.
