500 Days Until 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup

To commemorate the 500-day mark until the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, FIFA will unveil the logo of the tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 3.

The emblem will be released at a special ceremony in Russia’s historic Red Square in Moscow. The ceremony will honor guests such as 2001 Confederations Cup and 1998 FIFA World Cup winner Christian Karembeu as well as Russian artists and celebrities.

The 2017 tournament marks the first time the event is being held in Russia. The 16-match tournament will be held from June 17-July 2 at venues in Kazan, Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Sochi.

Last Call for Rio 2016 NOC Press Submissions

The deadline for National Olympic Committees to submit press credentials for the Rio 2016 Olympics is Friday, Feb. 5.

In November, Rio 2016 distributed Press by Name accreditation forms to NOCs that had returned their Press by Numbers forms. The completed Press by Name forms are due back to Rio 2016 organizers by Friday.

The Rio 2016 Accreditation Department will distribute non-valid Olympic Identity and Accreditation Cards (OIAC) to NOCs to forward to their press outlets. The OIAC acts as a visa into Brazil.

The Rio 2016 Olympics take place from Aug. 5-21.
