(ATR) Reinstilling confidence in the Olympic Movement is the theme of the first day of the Association of National Olympic Committees General Assembly in Prague, Czech Republic.
Around the Rings is on the scene in the Czech capital where International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach opened the assembly with a keynote address rebuking the vast criticisms facing the Olympics. From doping and corruption scandals to lack of bid city interest, Bach says hope is not lost if the IOC and Olympic Movement as a whole can institute meaningful reforms.
"When we hear about these it is only about the challenges, which are maybe sometimes exaggerated, but we should never forget the full picture," Bach told the assembly. "We should always put this in perspective of all what we are doing, where we are going, what our values are, how we are defending and addressing these values."
There is a certain buzz around the Hilton Prague Hotel where the annual convention is taking place. ATR reporter Kevin Nutley describes the atmosphere of the assembly and the notable action of the first day in Prague.
