(ATR) The inaugural World Olympians Forum opens on Oct. 20.
Some of the biggest names in the international sports world will come together at the forum in Moscow under IOC President Thomas Bach's leadership.
The World Olympians Association is working with the Russian Olympic Committee to host Olympic leaders and athletes, as well as major Russian sports figures.
The WOA says 143 national Olympians associations, IOC members, Olympic stakeholders, and athletes will meet at the event to exchange "best practices and discuss the topics of greatest concern to Olympians."
Alongside Bach, Prince Albert II of Monaco will be the speaker to officially begin the forum this week.
Around the Rings editor Ed Hula and ATR publisher Sheila Scott-Hula will be in attendance at the forum, which ends on Oct. 22.
Gymnastics Championships Doubles as Olympic Qualifier
This year, the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships will double as a qualifier for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The championships kick off on Oct. 23 in Glasgow, Scotland. This marks the first time Scotland has hosted the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
This also marks the first of two opportunities for gymnasts to advance to Rio 2016. The top eight teams will advance to the Olympics, as well as any individual event medalists who are not on a qualifying team for the Olympics or Olympic test event.
The second opportunity for teams to qualify for the Rio Games is the Olympic test event, where four more teams will qualify.
Individual athletes have the opportunity to qualify for the Olympics in the all-around and individual events at both the 2015 worlds and the test event.
Competition at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships ends on Nov. 1.
Paralympic Athletics World Championships
The International Paralympic Committee is staging this year's Para-athletics World Championships in Doha, Oct. 22-31.
The championships will be one of the last major competitions ahead of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
Some 1,300 athletes from 90 countries and will compete at the Suhaim Bin Hamam stadium in the Qatari capital.
Play the Game 2015
The 2015 edition of Play the Game opens in Aarhus, Denmark on Oct. 25.
Leaders of Play the Game describe their initiative as an international conference aimed at "strengthening sport's ethical foundation and promote democracy, transparency and freedom of expression in sport."
This year's conference ends on Oct. 29.
