AIBA to Deliver Transparent Election Process

Lausanne, August 24th, 2018 – The International Boxing Association (AIBA) is pleased to announce that the positions available for the upcoming elections, taking place at the 2018 AIBA Congress to be held on 2-3 of November in Moscow, Russia, are now open.

In addition to the congress registrations which opened earlier this month, AIBA is further informing all National Federations about the open positions available on the Executive Committee. Each AIBA EC position has a mandate of four years, renewable by election. The application deadline for all candidates is September 23, 2018.

In order to maintain integrity and transparency throughout the election process, the applications will be thoroughly reviewed by the AIBA Election Committee. The list of final candidates will be announced to all National Federations and published on AIBA’s website on October 2, 2018.

Tom Virgets, AIBA Executive Director, mentioned: "This is a very important time for our organisation, we have come a long way in implementing new processes and reforms that guarantee transparency and restore the integrity of boxing. The same dedication to transparency and integrity continues to be applied during this process, as custodians of our sport it is our duty to do what is best for our organisation, for our members and for our athletes."
