(ATR) Temporary electricity needed to power the 2018 Winter Olympics will be provided by Aggreko.
The tender covers temporary electricity for all Games’ venues and for the international broadcast center according to international reports. Aggreko has been used by previous Olympic Games as a temporary power source, and will also provide power to the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast in the same year.
The power company will also serve as a sponsor for the PyeongChang Games according to reports. Aggreko's tender for PyeongChang 2018 is reportedly worth $40 million, less than the $60 million tender for London 2012.
Aggreko had been in consideration for the temporary power tender for Rio 2016 before the decision was made to award it to multiple companies. Eventually, generators were leased from Aggreko to meet the demand for capacity.
Aggreko has provided temporary power for nine Olympics and six World Cups.
