(ATR) Bid delegations from the five candidate cities are seeking to make their presence felt at the ANOC general assembly in Washington D.C.
Under ANOC and IOC guidelines, the cities are each allowed to send six-strong delegations comprising three bid officials and three NOC representatives.
It’s the first major meeting of Olympic stakeholders for the bids from Budapest, Hamburg, Los Angeles, Paris and Rome.
There are no opportunities for the 2024 cities to promote themselves, according to IOC rules of bidding conduct.
But the bid teams will use the two-day assembly, at which a few dozen IOC members are expected to attend, to listen, learn and network on the sidelines of the meeting.
Hungarian Olympic Committee president and secretary general Zsolt Borkai and Bence Szabo lead Budapest’s delegation. Government commissioner and bid chief Balázs Fürjes, NOC head of communications Erik Siklós, the city’s deputy mayor and a bid adviser are attending.
"Our objective is purely to observe, listen, engage and learn," spokesman Siklós tells Around the Rings, adding that discussions would take place with representatives from NOCs, international federations and athletes to find out more about their expectations for the Olympics.

For Paris 2024, co-president Tony Estanguet and CEO Etienne Thobois will be at ANOC. Representing the French NOC are president Denis Masseglia and general secretary Jean-Michel Brun. International relations executives for the NOC and bid, Marc Chevrier and Sophie Lorant, make up the delegation journeying to the annual gathering of the world’s NOCs.
Former Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo, head of Rome 2024, will make his first major appearance for the bid outside Italy.
In support will be Giovanni Malagò, president of the Italian Olympic Committee, and his No.2 at CONI Roberto Fabbricini.
The Italian NOC’s deputy secretary general Carlo Mornati is attending along with CONI communications chief Danilo Di Tommaso, new Rome 2024 press chief Fabio Guadagnini and international relations manager Simone Perillo.
