The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has registered an appeal filedby the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) against the sanctions which were imposed on itby the African Football Confederation (CAF) following the decision of the FRMF not to organise the2015 edition of the African Cup of Nations due to the Ebola virus epidemic.
Through two decisions dated 6 February 2015, the Executive Committee of the CAF excluded theFRMF from the next two editions of the African Cup of Nations, imposed on it a fine of 1 million USdollars as well as ordering it to pay 8,05 million Eurosin compensation to the CAF and its stakeholders.
In its appeal to the CAS, the FRMF requests the annulment of the challenged decisions and that a finalaward be issued by the end of March 2015. An arbitration procedure has been opened and is beingconducted according to the Code of Sports-related Arbitration. The CAS will not give any moreinformation at this time.
