Today, Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson and Monique Lamoureux-Morando announce their retirement from Women’s Hockey on The Player’s Tribune.

As the two sisters reflect on their hockey journey - from starting out at the age of five on their community team to winning gold in the 2018 Olympics - readers are given an inside look into the highs and lows of their careers as well as insight into what led to their decision to retire.

This week marks the official one year countdown until the 2022 Winter Olympics, where the USA Women’s Hockey Team will be defending the gold that the Lamoureux sisters helped win.

"Every time I look at that gold medal, I’ll know it stands for so much more than just a single game at the Olympics.

To us, it represents our parents, our brothers, our coaches, our teachers and professors, our teammates over the years and all the incredible fans who stood by our team through thick and thin," the Lamoureux sisters.

As they look forward to this new chapter of their lives, the Lamoureux legacy lives on both on the ice, and on the ground where they fought to further women's sports and carve out space for female athletes everywhere.
