Did you know that the United States is the only country in the world that doesn't provide direct funding to its Olympic teams and athletes?
That's why as our USA Luge Team prepares to compete at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, we are in need of critical financial support to help them achieve their Olympic dreams.
Funding is a key element in the team’s success, and this is one way USA Luge aims to meet the challenge.
We've set a goal of $20,000 to help us provide much needed support to our team members. If we are fortunate enough to reach our goal, any additional money raised will go to things like improved training programs, new equipment, coaching and cutting-edge technology to make our sleds go even faster. In a sport that's timed to the thousandth of a second, our athletes are looking for any edge they can gain against their rivals from some of the world's sliding powerhouses.
You can donate very simply by logging on to: https://www.generosity.com/sports-fundraising/2018-olympic-team-fund-drive/
Unlike other sports, where athletes are developed in youth organizations or local clubs, USA Luge has to identify athletes at a young age through a national recruitment process. Finding the next generation of Olympic athletes, training and developing them, and preparing them for international competition is a very long, laborious and most of all, costly process.
With your assistance, we can help our athletes reach goals they have strived for, sacrificed for and are now so close to achieving.
Your help will make Olympic medals, like the bronze medal won by Erin Hamlin at the Games in Sochi, possible once again in 2018. Donations will directly impact our team’s chances of doing so.
USA Luge is utilizing Generosity by Indiegogo as a platform for this campaign. Unlike most crowdfunding platforms, Generosity offers donors the chance to absorb service fees normally charged by crowdsourcing platforms, maximizing your donation to USA Luge.
