The Global Esports Federation concluded an unprecedented year with a series of historic activities, milestones and achievements. Following the GEF Board meeting held on the occasion of its first anniversary, the GEF hosted its first General Assembly, convening the world’s esports community, Member Federations and partners with a message of gratitude and optimism for the year ahead.

The GEF General Assembly, held via video conference, was updated by the GEF President, Chief Operating Officer and senior members of the GEF administration on the progress and priorities following its first year of activity. The General Assembly provided members the opportunity to interact and ask questions as the community came together to celebrate and set the stage for the new year.

"The Global Esports Federation has actively engaged and listened to our Member Federations as we shape the organization. In a year of unprecedented and complex challenges, we have strengthened, developed and grown together," said Chris Chan, President, Global Esports Federation. "Having started the year with a clear mission to establish the credibility, legitimacy and prestige for esports – we conclude our first year, focused on a set of powerful universal values and priorities that will drive, develop and grow our dynamic global community."

To mark the anniversary celebrations, the GEF staged the inaugural edition of the #worldconnected series (#wcs20) and GEFcon20 – the Global Esports Convention. GEFcon20 showcased 14 sessions featuring 50 global thought leaders from esports, sports, technology and innovation sectors, reflecting on topics designed for the collective interest and benefit of esports and its limitless potential. GEFcon20 was capped by live sessions hosted by Angela Ruggiero, global sports leader and Olympic Gold Medalist, featuring Christophe Dubi, Olympic Games Executive Director, International Olympic Committee; and NBA Champion All-Star and Olympic Medalist, Pau Gasol.
