SportAccord Gains Silver Partner
Tourism & Events Queensland (TEQ) announced it will be a Silver Partner of the SportAccord World Sport & Business Summit in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
In 2019, TEQ served as Host City Partner for SportAccord 2019 in Gold Coast, Australia.
"We are immensely grateful for the support of Tourism & Events Queensland," SportAccord Managing Director Nis Hatt said. "TEQ proved to be an outstanding Host City Partner for SportAccord 2019 and we are delighted to be working with the organisation as a Silver Partner as it focuses on driving the state’s considerable post-SportAccord legacy opportunities."
The three edition partnership will begin next year in Ekaterinburg, Russia from May 23-28, 2021.
SportAccord says the vast majority of organizations that had planned to exhibit at SportAccord this year have already confirmed that they are committed to having a presence at the event in Ekaterinburg.
The 2020 edition was originally scheduled for Beijing and then moved to Lausanne before being cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Organizations interested in becoming an official partner or exhibitor can email sales@sportaccord.sport.
Global Sports Week Changes Format
(ATR)Global Sports Week will have a new multi-country format for the event’s second edition, which will take place from Feb. 1-5, 2021.
Five continental hubs in Tokyo, Beijing, Dakar, Milan and Los Angeles will be connected live to a central base in Paris.
A virtual platform will link events across the venues and extend participation to up to 10,000 people worldwide.
Live spots from iconic sports venues in cities around the world will also form part of the program.
The GSW House, a new venue located at the We Are Club opposite the Elysee Palace in the French capital, will be the centerpiece for the event.
The Parisian hotel and garden offers 1,400 square meters of flexible space for talks, exhibitions, pitches, demonstrations and parties, according to organizers.
The first edition of Global Sports Week last February brought together 2,000 leaders of the world’s sports economy at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris.
It was among the last major forums to take place before the coronavirus pandemic. Its agenda focused on the future of sport at the intersection of business and society.
"The last few months have been a time to think big. The next few months will be a time to put big ideas into action. This is what we plan to do with Global Sports Week in 2021," Lucien Boyer, co-founder and president of Global Sports Week, said in a statement.

Smart Cities & Sport Summit Offers Choice
The seventh edition of the Smart Cities & Sport Summit will be held online and hopefully on-site in Lausanne from October 26-28, 2020.
Organizers say they are taking the unprecedented step "to provide everyone, everywhere in the world, with the possibility to attend".
All members of the Smart Cities & Sport network will be granted access to an online streaming of the Summit and will be allowed to invite three additional guests from their organization.
For those interested in attending in person, registrations will be fully refundable prior to the event given the uncertainty of future travel restrictions amid the ongoing pandemic.
