(ATR) A SportAccord delegation led by president Raffaele Chiulli and managing director Nis Hatt are on an inspection visit to Ekaterinburg.

The Russian city will host the 19th edition of the rescheduled SportAccord World Sport & Business Summit from November 7-12, less than 200 days from now.

On Thursday, Chiulli and Hatt met with Dmitry Chernyshenko, Russian Federation Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the SportAccord 2021 Organising Committee, Igor Levitin, Aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Minister of Sport Oleg Matytsin.

"The participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the event will significantly increase its level and significance. Preparation is going on at the highest level," Levitin said.

The commitment to safety and security of delegates was reiterated with special attention being paid to the various measures that will be put in place for COVID-19. One option being explored is making complimentary vaccines available to registered delegates.

During an organizing committee meeting earlier this week, Chernyshenko outlined plans to help foreign participants at SportAccord 2021 in managing their visa processes.

The SportAccord delegation was given a tour of on-the-ground preparations for the event and also met with Sverdlovsk Region Governor Yevgeny Kuivashev regarding the preparations to date.

"There is no doubt that Ekaterinburg is ready to host SportAccord and it was especially important to reconnect with Mr. Chernyshenko, Mr. Levitin, and Mr. Matytsin and to have their full support," Chiulli said.

This is the third visit to Ekaterinburg by a SportAccord delegation but the first to include Chiulli.
