SARAH LEWIS OBE OLY TO FOCUS ON GLOBAL SPORTS FUTURE

Sarah Lewis OBE OLY has announced today that she will be focusing on a variety of global projects in sport.

The announcement follows the conclusion of her candidacy for President of the International Ski Federation (FIS - Fédération Internationale de Ski).

"As an Olympian, and as a global sports leader, it has been a real honour to have served FIS - the world’s largest winter sports governing body - for twenty six years, twenty of these as Secretary General.

"I congratulate the newly elected FIS President Johan Eliasch and Council Members in this new era of global sport.

"I am also taking this opportunity to thank the National Associations and the global snow sport community for our engaging collaboration over the years, working with dedication to the sport and organisation.

"I have made it my mission to understand our global landscape, and now as I pursue several exciting projects in global sport, I will continue to do just this.

"I will be remaining at the forefront of demonstrating the importance of innovations and partnerships in sport, and how these impact positively on society, along with promoting women in leadership positions," confirmed Lewis.

Sarah Lewis is a regular speaker at global sports events. In June, she will be sharing her insights at the Host City Americas, which connects international rights holders with event hosts and investors, and includes IOC Members, Sports Ministers, Mayors, International Federations and Organising Committee Leaders.

As an honorary professor at Beijing Sports University, and a regular speaker at the World Winter Sports Expo Beijing, Lewis will continue to address delegates at a variety of global sports events in 2021-22.

Lewis is also a Lead Mentor of the first Winter Sport Hype Global Virtual Accelerator, which nurtures partnerships between sports, tech startups and some of the world’s biggest clubs and brands.

In March, Lewis also joined female executives from ESPN, NBA, Google, VISA and Coca-Cola on the Women’s Leadership Board of Sports Innovation Lab, the leading sports research company co-founded by Angela Ruggiero, four-time Olympian and Forbes Top 25 Most Influential Women In Sport.

About Sarah Lewis OBE OLY - figure in global sports

Sarah Lewis represented Great Britain at the age of 23 at the 1988 Olympic Winter Games in Calgary.

After being appointed Secretary General of FIS in 2000, during her twenty years in that role she has become a well-known face in the Olympic Movement and winter sports landscape.

She was a member of the International Olympic Committee Programme Commission, three Olympic Winter Games and two Youth Olympic Games Coordination Commissions, and has led the FIS delegation at five Olympic Winter Games.

Lewis also served as Secretary General of the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF) and was Chair of the World Anti-Doping Agency Independent Observers at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

In 2018, she was awarded the title of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by HM Queen Elisabeth for her services to sport.
