Pentathlon GB is continuing to progress modern pentathlon in Great Britain with the appointment of two new non-executive board members, ahead of hosting the European Championships in Bath in August.
The governing body recently advertised for two new directors with the specific skills and experience to develop and progress the delivery of the sport in the run up to Rio 2016 - and beyond.
Rebecca Dykema, Global Agency Business Leader at Google, will use her 13 years of experience in digital marketing and international business to bring a data-driven and customer focussed strategy to the sport. In addition to her professional skills, Rebecca is passionate about sport, previously being involved with horse riding, running, swimming and soccer.
Clare Wardle, Group General Counsel and Company Secretary at Kingfisher plc, is well qualified to address governance and risk, as well as Pentathlon GB legal issues, which she will do in conjunction with Pentathlon GB’s Chair. Her past appointments include roles at Royal Mail, Tube Lines Ltd and Lovells. Clare competed in varsity modern pentathlon and has wide sporting interests including horse riding, rowing and ocean racing.
Anthony Temple QC, Chair of Pentathlon GB, said: "We are privileged to welcome two such well-qualified and enthusiastic volunteers to the Board. They reinforce our skills by bringing different and very necessary expertise, variously in good governance and legal practice, and strategic and operational experience within social media.
"We look forward to working together on the Board and to the undoubted benefits they will bring to our sport."
