Shooting Australia’s 2021 National Performance Series will commence tomorrow with the Adelaide Rifle Grand Prix to be held at Wingfield Rifle Range through to Sunday.
The Grand Prix has attracted participating athletes from South Australia, Victoria and Queensland and includes Tokyo Olympic Games athletes, Jack Rossiter, Dane Sampson and Katarina Kowplos.
The event schedule will see Open (men and women combined) events in Rifle Three Positions on Friday, Rifle Prone, Air Rifle Mixed Teams and 10m Air Rifle Challenge on Saturday, and 10m Air Rifle on Sunday.
Rossiter, who will compete alongside his sister Tori, said the Grand Prix marks the commencement of the countdown to the Tokyo Olympic Games in July.
"I'm really looking forward to this Grand Prix as it is the first proper event for the year. It will also show us how we have benefited from the training last season and what we need to improve on heading into the future competitions like the Olympics," said Rossiter.
Athletes participated in a five-day training camp last week under National Rifle Coach, Petr Kurka, and Sampson said; "I am looking forward to testing out what I have been working on this week at the Grand Prix."
At each 2021 Performance Series event, athletes will be awarded points based on their finishing position.
In Rifle, the Performance Series will see one set of points allocated in each event, however a separate leaderboard will be created for men and women.
The 2021 Performance Series points allocation is:
