Morocco Unveils its FIFA World Cup Bid -- Conferences and Conventions

(ATR) Morocco will unveil this Saturday March 17 the plans for its bid to organize the 2026 FIFA World Cup .

The chairman of the Moroccan candidacy, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, will offer at a press conference in Casablanca details ofhis country's financing resources as well as the infrastructure projects that will accompany the construction of the new stadiums for the football event.

The competition would take place in 12 Moroccan cities withthe participation of 48 teams. For a FIFA World Cup, the host country must be equipped with stadiums with a capacity of 40,000 for pool matches, 60,000 for the semifinal games, and 80,000 for the final match.

Morocco is planning to build six 40,000-seat stadiums, in addition to a 100,000-seat stadium in Casablanca.

Morocco’s bid is competing against a joint North American effort involving the USA, Canada and Mexico.

The SportAccord Convention

We are less than a month away from he annual gathering of International Federations and leaders in the global sport movement at the SportAccord Convention.

The gathering is scheduled from April 15-20 in Bangkok, Thailand, featuring more than 90 IFs, 135 cities or regions and more than 350 delegates representing those locations.

It will be the 16th edition of the event and will feature the inaugural HealthAccord conference alongside the usual CityAccord, MediaAccord and LawAccord conferences that supplement the program.

2018 Humanitarian Award

The Foundation for Global Sports Development will have a reception and ceremony for the gymnasts who are survivors of abuse and have become leaders and heroes in sport.

The Humanitarian Award recognizes individuals and organizations that have stepped up as leaders and champions for social, economic, political or environmental justice and equality.

The Red Carpet event is on April 28 at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills in Los Angeles.

International Sports Convention Returns

The International Sports Convention returns to Geneva, Switzerland once again in December 2018.

The 2018 edition of the convention will integrate both the Sports Broadcast Conference 2018 and the Sports Digital Conference, allowing attendees more opportunities for networking, learning and business development.

ISC 2018 will focus on three main pillars according to organizers: the business of sport, the development of sport and sustainable development goals in sport.

The convention includes 18 sports conferences along with a 6,000 square meter exhibition hall. Attendees will be able to meet federations, leagues, clubs and global sports industry suppliers during the two-day convention.

Organizers expect more than 2,000 delegates to attend the conference that will feature 150 speakers.

ISC 2018 is scheduled for Dec. 5-6.
