Laureus Sport for Good and LimeLight Sports Group have today launched the Active World Fund to benefit communities throughout the UK.
The Active World Fund is a social impact fund that aims to create a level playing field to benefit communities via the power of sport.
The Fund will provide access and opportunity for people to change their lives through sport and to ensure that the active world is accessible to everybody.
The LimeLight Sports Group is committing a minimum of £30,000 per annum to the fund and will work in partnership with Laureus to identify organisations and communities to support.
They will also look to raise money for the Active World Fund through a number of initiatives using their wide industry networks.
Laureus World Sports Academy Chairman Sean Fitzpatrick said: "The global lockdowns caused by the Covid-19 pandemic have shown how vitally important sport is to society, particularly to the younger generations looking to find their way in the world.
"Lockdowns have limited the amount of sport people can participate in and that in turn has had an impact on vulnerable young people who have not had the support and guidance that sport can provide.
"We’re looking forward to working with LimeLight Sports Group, making a real difference in society at a time when young people need it more than ever."
The Active World Fund will support programmes all around the UK who are using sport to create opportunities for young people to be active, and through sport address social challenges that they may be facing.
Craig Dews, CEO of LimeLight Sports Group added: "At LimeLight Sports, we are passionate about doing all we can to ensure that the Active World Fund is accessible to all and that we are helping to level the playing field across society.
"Our passion for sport is at the heart of everything we do to change behaviours, build communities and make a difference.
"Working with Laureus Sport for Good means that we can provide some meaningful and transformative support for young people."
Over the past 21 years, Laureus Sport for Good has raised more than €150m for the Sport for Development sector, reaching and helping change the lives of more than six million children and young people since 2000. Laureus Sport for Good currently supports more than 200 programmes in over 40 countries that use the power of sport to transform lives.
LimeLight Sport Group creates bespoke participation journeys, experiences and active campaigns for partners including Nike, Royal Bank of Canada, The FA, The Royal Parks, J.P. Morgan, Team GB and The Swimathon Foundation.
