(ATR) The President of the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness (IFBB), Dr. Rafael Santonja is very proud to share a milestone for the IFBB as it seeks worldwide sport inclusion. A proposal for Pan American Games recognition and inclusion was accepted at the recent Annual General Assembly of the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO), which was held in July, during the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games.

The twenty-two national Olympic committees from Aruba, Belize, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Dominica, Chile, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Perú, Saint Lucía, Suriname, Venezuela, U.S. Virgin Islands signed the application

letter presented to PASO. Several other organizations, including most NOCs (those where IFBB national federations are in the process of achieving domestic recognition) have provided their enthusiastic support for this proposal with PASO’s leadership and its President, Dr. Julio Cesar

Bodybuilding and Fitness enthusiasts are already organized in the Americas in a continental federation as well as several regional confederations, with active medal involvement going back to its regular participation in the official program of the Central American Games since 1994.

The IFBB and all of its disciplines are very popular in the Americas with more than 500 national and international events held every year. IFBB national federations are active participants in the IFBB World Championships and are also hosts of world class championships such as the World Championship Junior and Masters scheduled to take place in December, 2015, in El Salvador. This past May the Arnold Classic Brazil invitational was held in Rio de Janeiro and was recognized as one of the largest sports events in the country bringing together 28 different sports events under one

roof.

IFBB is a member of WADA and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), and are included in the program of the upcoming ANOC Beach Games.

The IFBB’s policy when seeking recognition and inclusion in a multi-sport international organization is to understand the corporate policy and philosophy of the organization, and give its full commitment to respect its rules and regulations in writing and in spirit, and to work to enhance its core values in any way possible.

The thousands of athletes and fans of bodybuilding and fitness, the officers and officials of the IFBB and its continental regional and national federations are enthusiastic and eager to join the Pan American Sports Organization’s sports family and looking forward to successful staging of the XVIII Lima, Peru, Pan American Games in 2019.
