"Helping China Discover Cricket" - On-going support from Craigengower Cricket Club

Today, Hong Kong Cricket Association Chairman, Mike Walsh announced continuing sponsorship from the Craigengower Cricket Club, focussed on development of Chinese cricket.

"I am very excited that Craigengower are maintaining their commitment to furthering local cricket aimed at the Chinese community," Walsh said.

"This is the 3rd tranche of $150,000 sponsorship provided by the Happy Valley Club over the last 3 years".

"This contribution is very substantial and helps us fund local coaching and does much to help promote the game in the local community," he added.

"Helping China Discover Cricket has been Craigengower's visionary approach for some time and we are very proud to be a part of this process," Walsh said.

Speaking after the decision, Craigengower President, Mr Chin Pak Hing said, "Continuing our sponsorship reflects the importance the Club places on helping to develop cricket both in Hong Kong and on the Mainland."

"Joining hands with the dedicated coaches and professional approach of the HKCA has produced proven results in a short time, with Chinese cricketers excelling at a variety of levels, including the National Women, in the men’s game and with the creation of the "elite" Hong Kong Dragons," he added.

"With the help of the HKCA we will continue to sponsor our Chinese men and women's teams, as well as starting junior teams in HKCA competitions," Chin said.

"The Spirit of Cricket remains alive and well in Happy Valley, as we maintain more than 120 years of cricketing tradition," he added.

Tim Cutler, the HKCA CEO, also welcomed the decision saying "Craigengower continues to forge the way in promoting the game within the Chinese community and the decision to continue sponsorship reinforces HKCA aims for local development."
