The FAI, World Air Sports Federation, and DHL signed a four-year agreement today, naming DHL as the Official Logistics Partner of the FAI.
The agreement was signed on Friday 16 September 2016 in Gladbeck Germany, prior to the launch of the 60th Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett balloon race, the most prestigious balloon competition in the world.
Announcing the new partnership, Vincenzo Scrudato, the Global Managing Director of DHL Trade Fairs & Events, said: "We are happy to become part of the world air sport community which includes fantastic competitions and activities. With our global network of transportation specialists we are able to provide the best solutions for the air sport persons as well as to the FAI Members, the local organisers and the whole Federation. DHL will assist in transport and also in questions on customs, dangerous goods handling and packaging through its specific knowledge of air sports."
FAI President Dr John Grubbstrom said: "We welcome this four-year commitment from DHL, which we see as a natural fit for the world of air sports. Like DHL, we are always moving in our sports – whether on the ground or in the air. As these balloons lifted off on Sunday in Gladbeck, we look forward to working together closely."
