British Rowing has today received confirmation of funding from UK Sport to support the GB Rowing Team through to the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. British Rowing CEO Andy Parkinson said: "In these difficult economic times, this funding announcement from UK Sport is welcome news and much appreciated. "We now have clarity for both Tokyo 2020 and the Paris 2024 cycle which is important and means we can focus on finalising the delivery of our Tokyo campaign in the crucial months ahead. "The support of the National Lottery and the Government will once again enable our brilliant athletes to achieve their dreams on the Olympic and Paralympic stage, supported by our world-class team of coaches and staff." British Rowing is set to receive £22,212,008 for the Olympic programme and pathway, which represents around a 10% reduction on the previous cycle award of £24,655,408, and £3,139,577 for the Paralympic programme and pathway, an increase of approximately 20% on the £2,614,482 award for the Tokyo cycle. The award provides British Rowing with certainty of funding through to Tokyo for both the Olympic and Paralympic programmes and includes an indicative total figure for the following three years, which UK Sport plan to revisit with the government following the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2021. Director of Performance Brendan Purcell said: "We are truly working through unprecedented times with the delay to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the economic situation faced by the UK.

"Our team of staff and athletes have done an outstanding job in dealing with this uncertainty and we are glad that we now have some financial security leading up to Tokyo and Paris 2024. "As a leadership team, we will now spend the beginning of 2021 determining how we maximise our funding to ensure medal-winning performances in Tokyo and through to Paris and beyond."
