(ATR) The president of World Bowling is optimistic about the federation’s move to Lausanne.

Kevin Dornberger hopes the move will have an impact on the sport’s Olympic prospects.

"I think it’s a step towards being in sync with the other international federations and having rigorous alliances with them and, of course, the IOC," Dornberger told Around the Rings.

"To me, it’s a stepping stone towards Olympic recognition," he added

An opening reception at the new headquarters is scheduled for March 19.

Dornberger will remain in Arlington, Texas.

Miami Eyes World Baseball Classic

(ATR) Miami would like to host the final for the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

Miami hosted second round matches in 2009 and 2013. United States cities have hosted the finals for the WBC in each of the tournament’s three editions.

In 2017, the Miami Marlins will also host the Major League Baseball all-star game.

"If we're not focusing on the globalization of baseball, then we're not doing our job," Miami Marlins president David Samson told MLB.

"Miami is the gateway to Latin America. It is a growing city in terms of importance."

FINA Embraces Kosovo

(ATR) Kosovo is officially a member of swimming’s international federation.

The country was welcomed as the federation’s 208th member with an announcement on the FINA website this week. The addition gives Europe 52 members, tying Africa for the most from a single continent.

Kosovo has made its membership official in a number of international federations since receiving Olympic recognition at the IOC Extraordinary Session in December.
