Bobsleigh pilot Laura Nolte in Innsbruck with second win in third race of the season
Kim Kalicki second, Mariama Jamanka defends World Cup lead with third place
Innsbruck (RWH) Eighth World Cup race, sixth podium place, third victory: Laura Nolte (GER)
has won the third 2-woman Bobsleigh race at the BMW IBSF World Cup 2020/2021. In
Innsbruck (AUT) the 22-year-old set the best time in both races with push athlete Deborah
Levi. The 2016 Olympic Youth Champion has now achieved three victories and three more
podium places in eight World Cup starts - all in 2020.
Second place in Innsbruck went to team mate Kim Kalicki with Ann-Christin Strack (GER, 0.30
seconds behind). The World Cup runner-up has thus been on the podium in all of her five World
Cup races so far.
Olympic champion Mariama Jamanka and Leonie Fiebig (GER, 0.45 seconds back) finished
third.
The British duo Mica McNeill/Montell Douglas finished fourth in Innsbruck. The British women
thus equalled their best World Cup result: In January 2019 the two of them also finished fourth
in the World Cup in Altenberg (GER).
Breeana Walker from Australia, who had won the Innsbruck race of the Women's Monobob
World Series the day before, finished eighth in the 2-woman event pushed by Sarah Blizzard.
A top six place, like the intermediate rank after the first run, was only prevented by a crash just
before the finish in the second run. For the Australian it was nevertheless by far the best result
in her fifth World Cup race.
In the overall BMW IBSF World Cup standings, Mariama Jamanka (GER, 635 points) defended
her lead ahead of team-mate Kim Kalicki (GER, 620). Katrin Beierl (AUT, 586) is third overall.
The local hero from the Austrian team finished fifth in Innsbruck.
