Skeleton athlete Janine Flock first World Cup winner in winter 2020/2021

Kimberley Bos second in Sigulda ahead of debutant Endija Terauda from Latvia

Sigulda (RWH) The first Skeleton World Cup winner in winter 2020/2021 is Janine Flock. At

the opening of the BMW IBSF World Cup, the Austrian only competed in her second ever race

in Sigulda (LAT). With a track record (51.49 seconds) the runner-up of last season's overall

World Cup already dominated the first run. After two runs her lead to second place was 0.83

seconds.

Kimberley Bos from the Netherlands celebrated her best World Cup result so far. Her first and

so far only podium finish in the World Cup dates back to 2017 with third place in PyeongChang

(KOR).

Third place at the BMW IBSF World Cup in Sigulda was surprisingly taken by debutant and

local hero Endija Terauda from Latvia (1.40 seconds behind). The overall runner-up in the

2019/2020 IBSF Europe Cup relegated Anna Fernstädt (CZE) to fourth place by one hundredth

of a second.

World Champion Tina Hermann (GER) finished seventh at the World Cup opener in Sigulda,

ahead of team mate and World Cup titleholder Jacqueline Lölling and European Champion

Elena Nikitina (RUS) on ranks eight and nine.

For the first time all three medal winners of the 2016 Youth Olympic Winter Games (YOG)

competed together in Sigulda: Youth Olympic Champion Ashley Pittaway (GBR) finished

twelfth, YOG runner-up Hannah Neise (GER), fifth after the first run, finished 13th at her World

Cup debut. Bronze medalist Agathe Bessard from France finished 16th.
