During his official visit to Uzbekistan AIBA President Umar Kremlev had a meeting with the Prime Minister of the country Mr. Abdulla Aripov. Development of boxing in Uzbekistan and hosting of Men’s World Championships in 2023 were the main points of agenda.
Mr. Kremlev expressed gratitude to Mr. Abdulla Aripov for support in the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and sports in the country, especially of boxing.
A few days ago was officially announced that the city of Tashkent is awarded the 2023 AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships after the successful bid presentation by the Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan.
‘Boxing is the number one sport in Uzbekistan, has a rich history and plays a huge role for the nation. Taking into account a large number of factors, based on economic, organizational, logistics capabilities, the choice fell on the city of Tashkent as the venue for the World Boxing Championships 2023. Such important competitions make their invaluable contribution to our common cause – the development and popularization of boxing all over the world. We have no doubts that the tournament will be conducted at the highest level,’ Mr. Kremlev said.
Moreover, during the meeting were discussed introduction of an educational program of boxing to schools and institutes.
