All summer Paralympic sport International Federations (IFs) will be brought together for the first time in Bonn, Germany, from 9-10 March, for workshops designed to encourage the exchange of ideas and strengthen their collaboration with the Agitos Foundation.

Supported by UK Sport, the sessions will focus on sport technical education and competition models with a particular emphasis on planning and developing professional capacity in the build up to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Two National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) have also been invited to share their perspectives with the IFs.

The Brazilian Paralympic Committee will attend to present their work in sport technical education, including the Road to Rio 2016: Agitos Foundation Sessions. The Rwandan Paralympic Committee will talk about their competition model in sports such as athletics and sitting volleyball including national and sub-regional Championships.

In addition, IFs will learn more about the development opportunities arising from the International Paralympic Committee’s (IPC) and Agitos Foundation’s collaboration with Worldwide Paralympic Partner Toyota and other funding partners.

IPC Chief Executive Officer, Xavier Gonzalez, will open the workshops on 9 March:

"With this workshop, the Agitos Foundation continues to support Para sport development globally.

"Following the rapid growth of the Paralympic Movement around the world in the last few years, it is a good time to gather IFs together to share best practice and provide support to each other on the evolution of their sports.

"We believe this will benefit all Para athletes in their build-up to Tokyo 2020. I would like to thank UK Sport for their support, as well as all IFs and the NPCs of Brazil and Rwanda for their participation."

Simon Morton, UK Sport’s Chief Operating Officer, said: "UK Sport has had a long-standing partnership with the IPC and Agitos Foundation, which has helped grow the Paralympic Movement worldwide. We are pleased to support this workshop, which will provide an important opportunity for summer Paralympic sport International Federations to come together for the first time to share best practice, discuss ideas and boost their own development."

The gathering will be attended by 45 representatives from IFs and UK Sport as well as the Chairperson of the IPC’s Development Committee, Rita van Driel.
