Großgmain (FIL) The 68th Congress of the FIL awarded Altenberg (GER) the contract for the 52nd FIL Luge World Championships for the year 2024. FIL President Josef Fendt was pleased: "Congratulations to Altenberg, the OC around WIA Executive Director Jens Morgenstern and the German federation. We are looking forward to very well organized World Championships in 2024".
The Junior World Championships (JWM) in luge on artificial track for the year 2023 were awarded to Bludenz (AUT) and the JWM 2022 to Winterberg (GER). Due to the ongoing worldwide pandemic regarding the corona virus, the Junior World Championships 2021 in Winterberg had to be cancelled. So the German federation (BSD) with the host community of the sports club BRC Hallenberg and the sports center Winterberg had again applied for the World Junior Championships for the year 2022.
Stephan Pieper, Managing Director of the Winterberg Sports Center, was very pleased: "I would like to thank the members of the FIL Congress for their positive vote and am pleased that we will be able to make up for the hosting of the Junior World Championships in Winterberg in the 2021/22 season".
