There will be no Gabby Douglas in Paris 2024

The London 2012 all-around champion, Gabby Douglas, will not participate in the next Olympic Games. This weekend will be the United States National Championship and the gymnast is short, so she cannot be selected for the June trials.

His abandonment in the US Classic had left some clue that it was not easy for him to return to the first international level. An all-around champion in London 2012 and a member of the team gold winning quintet in Rio 2016, Gabrielle Douglas returned to training last year with the intention of joining the North American Olympic team for the third time. However, that objective has, in principle, been postponed.

During training before the United States National Championship, which will take place next weekend in Texas, the 28-year-old gymnast suffered an ankle injury that leaves her out of the selection process for Paris 2024.

Had she competed in Paris 2024, Douglas would have become the oldest American woman to participate in artistic gymnastics since the 1950s. Anyway, Gabby expressed her desire to begin her rehabilitation and prepare for the 2028 Los Angeles games, games for which she will be 32 years old.
