THE DOCUMENTARY ABOUT BILES WILL BEGIN WITH WHAT HAPPENED IN TOKYO 2020 AND WILL MOVE FORWARD WITH HIS RETURN AND HIS TRIP TO PARIS.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) partnered with Netflix to grow in the audiovisual field. The objective is similar to that of all sports organizations that come to the streaming platform: to take advantage of their events beyond their dates and the live competition. After the success of The Redeem Team, the documentary about the gold medal in Beijing 2008 of the American basketball team, the IOC and Netflix teamed up again to produce three contents that will premiere before the opening ceremony.

The gymnast Simone Biles, the men’s basketball tournament and the best sprinters in the world will be the protagonists. The contents are supported by the Gymnastics Federation (FIG), the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the International Athletics Federation (World Athletics), respectively.

Gymnastics fans will have the opportunity to witness Biles’ journey first-hand, as she prepares to return to the most prestigious tournament in her discipline. The documentary about the Rio 2016 champion will have four parts and will have an exclusive behind-the-scenes follow-up to the gymnast’s journey to Paris.

The initial episodes, scheduled to premiere before July 26, will showcase Biles’ challenges with mental health during the Tokyo Games, as well as her return to competition at the 2023 World Gymnastics Championships. The remaining episodes will focus on Biles’ experiences with the U.S. gym team in Paris.

Among the series of new sports series that are planned for release during the Olympic Games, the documentary about Biles is just one of three. The other two will highlight the United States men’s basketball team and also the stars of speed track and field.
