After the successful hosting of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup in 2022, Singapore will continue to host the tournament in 2023 thru 2025.
The sport of 3x3 basketball first made its appearance at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore and made its Olympic debut last year at the Tokyo 2020 Games.
After a wildly successful fifth edition of the Asia Cup this past July, Sport Singapore and FIBA confirmed the tournament will be held in the city-state again thru 2025.
“After such an exciting return to Singapore this year, we couldn’t be happier to establish the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup in the country long term,” FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis said. “This will allow us to build an even greater and more engaged community of fans in Singapore and solidify the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup as one of the highlights of the 3x3 season.”
The next FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup will be held from March 27 to April 2, 2023. It will be the first major event of the 2023 season. Games will continue to use the two teams of three players as a roster structure. Aside from the competition, fans can also look forward to various community activations.
“Sport Singapore is excited to build on the success of the 2022 edition for the next three years, and we are committed to growing the local and regional interest in 3x3 together with FIBA. This event at the Sports Hub next year, promises to be a pulsating live and digital spectator experience. Watch out for it!” said Marcus Tan, Chief, Sport Development Group.
The Australian men and Chinese women were able to successfully defend their FIBA titles last summer at the 3x3 Asia Cup. Both teams have now secured a ticket to the Olympic qualifying tournament for Paris 2024.
Over the five-day competition in July, the event attracted more than 4,000 spectators with an estimated digital outreach of 35 million impressions.

3x3 is inspired by several forms of street-ball played worldwide and is considered the world’s number one urban team sport. Steered by FIBA, games see two teams of three players face off on a basketball half-court. Fast paced and exciting, the game mimics its urban roots with innovative short stacked rosters.

3X3 basketball is exploding worldwide. In the United States, 3x3 basketball is played on a professional lever in the BIG3 league. The league was founded in 2017 by hip-hop musician and actor Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz. The league consists of 12 teams whose rosters include both former NBA players and international players.
